Music has the power to unite people across differences to transform pain and injustice into healing and resistance. It can be a tool to galvanize people’s hearts and create a movement for change by creating physical and social bonds with those who raise voice with you. This workshop will explore the role of music in social justice movements, as a tool for personal catharsis and for building relationships across values, beliefs and identities. Presenters will perform examples of "Zipper Songs", and participants will have the opportunity to learn and write verses for 3 songs.
