The technology divide between Appalachian and Non-Appalachian students in a small public Appalachian university.

This work will attempt to discern differences between quality and quantity of the technology students bring to campus based on their home. Specific questions have been added to an annual institutional survey that will be distributed during the Fall 2017 semester to all students at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH. The collected responses, expected to be several hundred, will be analyzed into four geographical categories: Appalachian rural, Appalachian urban, Non-Appalachian rural, and Non-Appalachian urban.

At the time of this proposal, the survey is currently being completed by students and the differences, if any, are unknown. This exploration is to give us a better understanding of our students, our community and our region as we move education into the digital age.
