I received the scorpion from Uwe yesterday and I rehydrated it (it was dried, dried well luckily) and relaxed it in sodiumphosphate. After this I put it in fixation fluid (Diettrichs' solution)....I was able to identify it at genus level. Species level will be a challenge and takes more time. I also have to ask an expert for an opinion. The specimen I received was a female (it lacks a internal lateral tooth in the chela, that males have).
- pedipalp patella with 6 or fewer ventral trichobothria;
- Tarsomere II of legs with setae on ventral surfaces (rather than two rows of spines on ventral side in other Bothriurid genera).
These two characters lead to genus Brachistosternus, according to Kovarik (2009) in his family key of his book Illustrated catalog.
When I would be able to identify on species level, I will add this info to the thread.
(sorry for writing in English, but I am in a hurry
)
Cheers, Michiel
